Poliform at Milan Design Week 2025: sculptural simplicity, tailored comfort

Each year, Milan Design Week serves as a compass for the global design industry, setting the stage for what trends are going to dominate in the upcoming year. At the 63rd edition of Salone Del Mobile, Poliform unveiled a series of indoor and outdoor novelties that blur the lines between couture craftsmanship and everyday comfort. The brand’s presence at the fair this year was commanding, with the entire structure of the stand having been built using Poliform’s own architectural elements.

Below, we explore the key pieces of the indoor novelties that caught our attention in Milan.

Joan Sofa: Precision Wrapped in Softness

Designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, the Joan Sofa is Poliform’s answer to those who want comfort without compromising on design. Inspired by fashion, the sofa takes a tailored approach to upholstery, putting the craftsmanship of stitching, piping, and textiles at the forefront. Imposing in form but rich in detail, Joan curvaceous lines, low profiles, and generously padded seats – an ideal balance of aesthetic clarity and lounge-worthy relaxation.

The Joan Sofa is modular, offering versatile compositions that suit expansive open plans or more compact city interiors. With options for integrated corner modules and angled seating, the system adapts to how people gather and move. Metal-painted aluminum feet in matte brown nickel lift the sofa slightly, lending it lightness and air.

Joan Coffee Table: Quiet Strength in Detail

The Joan Coffee Table, designed to accompany the sofa, holds its own as a standalone piece. Its proportions echo the sofa’s architecture – low and refined. Finishes like ash-stained black elm, glossy lacquered colours, and mirror-like glossy steel elevate the material palette, bringing contrast and lightness into play.

Offered in central or end-table variations, Joan’s coffee table is more than a surface – it becomes a subtle connector between lounging, entertaining, and living. Its minimalist profile focuses on quality, detail, and the dialogue between materials.

Owen Collection: The Art of the Curve

Also, by Jean-Marie Massaud, the Owen Collection pushes the conversation around upholstery into sculptural territory. The sofa and armchair sit atop a solid wood base in spessart oak or stained black elm, providing a strong architectural foundation. But from there, the design softens; curving, folding, and flowing into itself. The backrest’s seamless transition into the armrest is both functional and poetic, echoing natural forms while remaining decisively modern.

The way the materials are handled evokes a couture sensibility – every seam, every curve, is intentional. The Owen Collection is an elegant gesture that speaks to Poliform’s design ethos: functional artistry.

Leopold Armchair: Form Meets Tactility

Introduced as an evolution of the 2024 Leopold Dining Chair, the new Leopold Armchair continues Poliform’s dialogue between structure and comfort. A generously padded seat and backrest are wrapped in a sharp, elegantly contoured wooden frame, giving the piece a robust and graceful silhouette.

This is a chair designed for lingering; ideal for private reading corners, bedrooms, or as a standalone accent mixed into living room layouts. The fusion of high-precision woodworking and soft upholstery encapsulates the Poliform approach: elevated, but never aloof.

Adrien Dining Table: Elevated Hospitality

The Adrien Dining Table, another standout by Jean-Marie Massaud, was reintroduced in grand new proportions responding to contemporary hospitality and statement design needs. The extended sizes, reaching up to 4.5 meters in length and 2.5 meters in round diameter, transform Adrien from a dining table into a true architectural centerpiece.

Whether finished in high-gloss lacquer, black elm, or dramatic marble, the tabletop commands attention without overpowering a space. For clients in our region – where entertainment often revolves around the table – these new sizes meet both cultural and spatial needs.

Adrien Office Desk: Where Function Becomes Form

The newest addition to the Adrien family is the Adrien Office Desk which brings the same elevated aesthetic into the workspace. Clean lines, premium materials, and generous proportions create a desk that feels more like a crafted installation than practical furniture.

Perfect for home offices or executive settings, it addresses the growing need for hybrid environments – spaces that support both productivity and aesthetic continuity.
